Open Letter for Contributions to the Construction of the Main Hall
Dao Vien Monastery, January 2024
Homage to the Buddha Shakyamuni
Dear Venerable Monks and Nuns! Dear Buddhists, near and far!
The greatest aspiration of those who have renounced the worldly life is to “guide future generations and repay the Buddha’s kindness.” This means that those who have gone before have a duty to guide and instruct those who come after to understand the Buddha’s teachings and apply them in practice, to bring joy and happiness to life. Thus, the stream of the true Dharma will forever flow and offer coolness and freshness to the world!
Therefore, to have sufficient means to propagate the Dharma for the benefit of all beings, it is necessary to have the generosity of lay men and women to join forces in building a pure and solemn place of practice and study. And thanks to this blessed planting, in every life and every lifetime, wherever we are born, we will have sufficient good actions and blessings to encounter the true Dharma, practice it, and create a prosperous, peaceful, and happy life!
Our monastery was newly established 4 years ago, so it is still simple, small, and lacks a sufficient Main Hall to accommodate our retreats and grand ceremonies that take place throughout the year. We plan to build a Main Hall that opens on three sides in a simple Pavilion style, with an area of 3,200 square feet. The estimated construction cost is $100,000.
We sincerely request lay people near and far to joyfully give generously to contribute to the construction of the Three Jewels place here, so that it may be completed soon as we aspire. May this merit be extended to your families, who will always be protected and blessed by the Three Jewels with good health and peace!
